Whew, it’s been a whole 5 months since I’ve been here dusting off my blog. BTW happy new year to whoever reads my blog.
Anyway this post is about Misfits which is a comedy-drama on E4 aired in the UK. Season 3 had just ended last year and if you’re a fan like myself then you must have been shocked at the end of it.
That’s what this post is about, the time traveling storyline/apsect and we know Simon and Alisha become a couple during the course of the show, The thing I was thinking about was where exactly did it all start from?
You have to understand the mysterious black hooded figure had to start somewhere, he couldn’t have just been there at the beginning also added to this are the multiple timelines. OK we know Simon realised he had to travel back to save Alisha in S3 so I think there’s more than 1 timeline.
Timeline 1: This would be what we have been watching (Series 1 to 3).
Timeline 2: Season 3 end, Simon goes back to timeline 1 default.
Timeline 1 cont: With Alisha dead, and Simon gone it is now Curtis, Kelly, Rudy and Seth.
As you can see, Simon is going to keep going back and repeating things over and over as Rudy stated at the end of S3 which to be honest is probably the smartest thing he ever said throughout the latest series.
In my opinion what started everything was a ‘timeline 0′ where there wasn’t future Simon helping them. In this timeline I think the course of the series would still happen but end in different ways, the tattooist Vince for example we know from the default timeline that he doesn’t like dry roasted peanuts which future Simon gave the misfits and present Simon threw a peanut in his mouth.
In timeline 0 they could’ve defeated him without future Simon giving them peanuts. Remember he engraved a tattoo on Nathan with a heart and Simon’s name on it which in turn Nathan was attracted to Simon. Note he did this to Kelly making her attracted to him and during this Vince could’ve told her about his allergy to nuts and Kelly somehow passed the information to the others. With this, they could’ve defeated him in the same way.
See what I’m trying to say? The whole time travel fiasco was triggered off with one ‘original’ timeline. We can only guess what happens/happened to the ‘original’ misfits as your guess is as good as mine. For all we know something really bad could’ve happened and I mean really bad, or the misfits are older and have parted ways, they could’ve been actual superheroes or maybe Nathan returned. Anything could happen and hell for all I know they could be using their powers for evil, maybe there are other characters the meet along the line.
Very interesting programme. I feel gutted Simon and Alisha’s story arc has ended as I feel the writers have used their creativity a bit too soon. Alisha could’ve been killed off in S4.
